A lot of chefs don’t have a natural sense of economy. I was with one guy the other day, and I had to show him how to peel a turnip, because the way he was peeling turnips, he was throwing half of it in the garbage. It’s not about being cheap. It’s about being proper. Daniel Boulud
The first time I actually saw a turnip was in Germany…I have had turnip soup before, but out of a tin. I saw them all the time in the store, but didn’t know what they were. So, one day I was at a friends and she had them in a salad, and then I was hooked! So, I was so excited to harvest my very own today. Can’t wait to taste it, hope am not disappointed!! I will make sure that I prepare it the proper way, because if nothing else I have tried to drill into the girls to not waste their time unless they are going to things to the best of their ability and the proper way!
