Most days it feels as if the world is whirling around me and I am standing still. In slow motion, I watch the colors blur; people and faces all become a massive wash. Sarah Kay
It all began with a couple of boxes…of course, the minute that boxes appear, so do the kitties!!!
This was followed by packing up the house…and a crazy man surveying the property…under the bushes, up the tree, around the corner, upside down…and there goes our house…into storage somewhere in the middle of Michigan…we hope?

One exciting thing about living on Main Road is that it is around the corner from the Creamery….good for an after supper snack on a hot summer night!
Our next adventure was collecting Cait and delivering her to Cape Cod for a three week trawl survey cruise with NOAA in the North Atlantic off North Carolina…this was a fun little girls trip to tick a couple more states off the list. Also pretty much a dream come true for me with a visit and dinner at Woods Hole, MA, after all the papers I have indexed and edited out of here! So cool! So crossed a few things off the bucket list…Cape Code, Woods Hole, Providence, Rhode Island (which was nothing like I imagined), Yale (got lost looking for a coffee shop, that ended up being closed), staying at a motel, Martha’s Vineyard (well, looking at it anyway)! And all with my gorgeous girls!

In the mean time, cheered Mike on (virtually) while he took part in his first 5 k in a while…and he even came third in his age group – whoop whoop!! (It does start to get a little easier age-group wise the older we get!!!) Still super proud of all his effort!!!

Next….a few more things to tick off the bucket list…Ellis Island and a ferry around the Statue of Liberty, followed by a trip to the city. Ellis Island was probably the most profound place to visit, and although there is less indignity in the way immigrants are handled, our experience was not far off what was required 100 years ago…we still had to make sure all the paperwork (tons of) was adequate, and had to undergo medicals to make sure we did not have any contagious diseases…including syphilis!!
Our next little trip took us across to San Luis Obispo, California, to CalPoly to settle Nic in on her new adventure…what a beautiful place for a university! I couldn’t think of a place better suited to you, and what you are studying. Work hard, play hard, protect our environment and always do good! So proud of you!

Of course, I couldn’t leave without at least visiting the beach, and managed to capture this stunning sunset with the moon coming up at Morro Bay! This was the only sign that I needed that Nic is in the right place! God’s amazing creation!
In between all this….we were keeping an eagle eye on Caitzi on THE Henry Bigelow…amazing that you can download and app and track ships…scary how many ships are within close proximity of each other. Why were we tracking her….well…there was a hurricane headed directly for where their survey was supposed to happen. It did make for some beautiful sunsets!! Thanks of the pics Cait!! So pleased that you avoided the bad weather, and still had an awesome experience! AND contributed further to the conservation of our marine resources in this fundamental sampling program.
Finally, three weeks up, and we could fetch Cait, and have her to ourselves for a whole 12 hours before she headed back to varsity. So proud of her volunteering for this program, and all that she had learned. Here’s to a good junior year…as with your sister, work hard, play hard, protect our environment, and always to good! Can’t wait to see you both again!
