“Parkrun is a collection of 5-kilometre (3.1 mi) running events that take place every Saturday morning at over 1,400 locations in twenty-three countries across five continents.” Wikipedia

I totally forgot about the parkrun that takes place in the Botanical Gardens every Saturday, and having not got out for my daily run for a while I ventured out onto the streets of Grahamstown, running a familiar route, past my old school, past my old house, past my old college dorm….collecting precious memories as I went, and I was just about to head home when I came across the local parkrun just about to take place…so decided to join in! What a fun and supportive atmosphere….at least I got a little hill training in! Was muddy and exhausted when I got back, but so excited to have been able to take part in an organized 5 km through the Botanical Gardens….somewhere that I would definitely not ventured to on my own. And I was even rewarded with this beautiful misty view (courtesy of the Grahamstown parkrun FB page) of Grahamstown from just below the Settler’s Monument.
