“The feelings that hurt most, the emotions that sting most, are those that are absurd – The longing for impossible things, precisely because they are impossible; nostalgia for what never was; the desire for what could have been; regret over not being someone else; dissatisfaction with the world’s existence. All these half-tones of the soul’s consciousness create in us a painful landscape, an eternal sunset of what we are.” — Fernando Pessoa
Sunsets do somehow remind us of what we were – all the dreams we imagined we had, the longing for impossible things, nostalgia for the past that is just faded memories. The need to remind us to live in the moment – each day is precious, and each sunset a gift of an extra day given. We need to look forward with faith and hope, waiting for the beauty of a new day and the excited that it brings. Be grateful for what we have in the moment we have it, and find happiness where we are.
