“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.” Helen Keller
Almost every day since the beginning of the Covid crisis and working from home, Expert2 and I have gone for a walk down the road next to river, which is a block from our house. It has been a great way to break from work at the end of the day when work consumes every niche of the house. It started out of necessity to get the dog out, but has now become a necessity for us. As summer developed, we found a little swim spot for Riley and spent a little time there while he dived into the water and chased the muskrats to their burrows in the same routine every evening. We were devastated on the days when we had to share ‘our’ spot! We also got out later and later, enjoying the last light rays at 9:45 pm…which gradually became earlier and earlier until tonight at 5:10 pm. We complained about the stifling heat in the middle of summer, and are complaining about the cold in the middle of fall. We have witnessed the blossoming of summer through spring, and all the animals coming to life, and the preparation for winter through fall, with turning colors and dropping leaves, fruit and nuts. Every day has been different, and somehow the same, but each moment has been felt with the heart. Grateful for this daily routine.
