“Collections collect collectors. It doesn’t work the other way around. A certain object misses its own kind and communicates that to some person who surrounds it with rhyming items; these become at first a quorum, then a selective, addictive madness.” – Allan Gurganus

This collection started with one mug, just one mug, which was a total novelty, as at the time Starbucks was something new for us. It grew with one mug at a time, until there was not enough space in the cupboard. So, I had to get a board, which was only half full…so naturally I had to collect more mugs. Now that the board is full, I have to resist the urge to buy a new mug as I have realized that it has become an addictive collection of ‘things’ that I am sure no one will appreciate inheriting one day! Grateful that at least someone in our family has had the privilege of traveling to each of the places the mug represents.
