I am so pleased to be here to witness the power of the community where my Dad and Aunt are living in Makanda. They still have help from local doctors who have referred my dad to a psychiatrist at Fort England to make sure his meds are correct for his needs…and I was grateful to be able to be with him on his first visit. Amazing that this service still exists here, and what amazing doctors and staff rallying around to make sure their patients are well looked after. This was certainly heart warming to see, and I will leave relieved that he is getting the very best care that he can receive with the full backing of the community, treating him like an individual with love and compassion, and not like a demented old person!
