“People who see life as anything more than pure entertainment are missing the point.” ― George Carlin, When Will Jesus Bring The Pork Chops?
I am beginning to think that I am going mad with this quarantine…however, we are finding ways to entertain ourselves. And after all, life is entertaining, and hopefully we are not missing the point. Poor Riley is desperate to get his ball, but it is nestled closely to Campbell. And Riley knows better than to help himself, if he wants to avoid the talons of murder. So…this is how we keep amused. In the big scheme of things, it is hard to believe that it is Maundy Thursday, and a whole year ago I arrived in South Africa, and enjoyed the special rituals of St. Margaret’s, including a vigil in the rose-adorned chapel, bringing much comfort and familiarity as I mentally prepared to help move my dad to assisted living and pack up his things, knowing in my heart it would probably be a final visit with him. Time goes by in a flash, and yet simultaneously stops. This year is unprecedented with the world shut down. So, entertaining ourselves seems trivial, but also the most important thing we can do – keeping us centered on gratitude and joy.
